MAIN ASTROPHOTOGRAPHY PROJECTS
PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE, Aug 01, 2008
An activity was organized by Pakistan Amateur Astronomers Society and other amateur astronomers in Karachi at PIA Planetarium, to view and capture the partial solar eclipse on Aug 01, 2008. The images were projected on screen for safer viewing.
VENUS OCCULTATION BY MOON, June 18, 2007
The instrument used was SK'EYE-3 with Nokia 6230i, 1.3 megapixel mobile camera. The field of view of the telescope was small so it could not capture the disappearance of Venus along with the crescent Moon in one picture. The disappearance phase was however captured at high magnification with Venus in phase disappearing in darkness. While reappearance, the Moon was very low on sky and very close to the dusy horizon. This event was almost successfully captured.
TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE, March 04, 2007
The instrument used was SK'EYE-III with Nokia N-73, 3.2 megapixel mobile camera. The project was successful as per expectations.
PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE, March 29, 2006
Mehdi and Ayaz took these pictures through SK'EYE-III, Alkhawarzmi, using Nokia N-90, 2 megapixel camera. It was also a big success.
THE SOLAR TRANSIT OF VENUS, June 8, 2004
This was my most ambitious and successful project. Big salute to SK'EYE-III, Alkhawarzmi. I made an ultraviolet solar filter to capture the event.
TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE, Nov 9, 2003
This was the first astrophotography session by SK'EYE-III, Alkhawarzmi. Yashica 35mm camera was used for the purpose.
THE SUN
SK'EYE-I, Alberuni was used. We managed to take the photograph of the Sun through ultraviolet filter at 85x, on Sept 23, 1999.
TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE, Aug 11, 1999, Karachi.
SK'EYE-II, Alhaitham was used for this purpose. The cloudy day led to the apparent failure of this project, except for a few overexposed pictures of the initial stages of the eclipse. The diamond ring what stolen by the clouds.
